Morgan S. Awarded the 2024 Q4 #ShowMePianoProject Scholarship
Missouri, March 7, 2025 – Vanguard Piano Service is proud to announce that Morgan S. of Saint Peters, MO, a talented 10-year-old pianist from Missouri, has been awarded the 2024 Q4 #ShowMePianoProject Scholarship. Morgan’s heartwarming performance at a local senior center earned her this prestigious recognition. Morgan, who has been playing the piano for just two years, discovered the Show Me Piano Project through her piano teacher, Kelly Stinnett (https://kellystinnett.com/). Inspired by a Thanksgiving duet session with her aunt, Morgan decided to turn her love for piano into a community-centered concert. With the encouragement of her family, she performed a selection of festive holiday songs for the residents of a senior center, bringing joy and holiday spirit to her audience.
“My mom suggested that my aunt and I do a concert together for my project,” said Morgan. “What was exciting about this project was that I got to play some of my favorite songs in front of people. I was nervous at first, but I had fun playing, and my aunt and I enjoyed performing together.” Her concert included solo and duet renditions of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”, arranged by Faber & Faber. Audience members sang along, clapped, and even danced, creating a memorable experience for all involved. One particularly special audience member, Shary, stood out to Morgan as a wonderful dancer and enthusiastic participant.
Morgan’s performance was not without challenges. Playing in a duet was a new experience, and she also had to navigate the unpredictability of audience participation. However, the encouragement from her great-aunt Mary Ann, who reassured her even when mistakes happened, helped Morgan stay confident and continue playing with joy. “We are thrilled to recognize Morgan’s dedication, musical talent, and commitment to sharing her gift with the community,” said Ty Uphoff, RPT from Vanguard Piano Service. “Her project beautifully embodies the spirit of the Show Me Piano Project, which celebrates the power of music to connect and inspire.”
As the scholarship recipient, Morgan will receive support to further her piano studies and continue developing her musical journey. Vanguard Piano Service congratulates Morgan on this achievement and looks forward to seeing her future musical endeavors.
